The Sarah Palin Effect

Liberals in the media love to claim that Sarah Palin is responsible for McCain's election loss back in November.

Tomorrow, Barack Obama will be sworn in as the 44th President of the United States and on this historical occaision (All Presidential Inaugurations are Historical) I thought this would be as good a time as any to post some of my thoughts on what I call the Sarah Palin effect.

Governor Sarah Palin is a fresh and new face on the national political scene.  She was used by the McCain people to launch barrage after barrage of attacks against the Obama political machine.  When she was named as McCain's running mate she energized the conservative base that was rather luke warm about their candidate.  Soon after the announcement the numbers showing up at McCain-Palin rallies increased to a size rivaled only by the crowds drawn by Barack Obama.

The media claims that conservatism hurts the Republican party because we are considered to be outside the mainstream.  In other words, conservatives are the radicals within the Republican Party.  What they don't realize is that Conservatives are the Republican party.  They don't understand us, so they think we are somehow wierd or strange like exhibits in a sideshow carnival.  They criticize our ideas because they are not in line with the liberal ideology they publish in major newspapers and broadcast across the airwaves on all the major news outlets.

Sarah Palin falls into this category because she is not one of them.  They fear conservatives and conservatism.  They fear us because they now that our way works every time it is tried.  They can't call themselves liberals any more because Rush Limbaugh and the rest of the "radical" right wing of the Republican party have succeeded in defining the term "Liberal".  Americans fear that word any time they hear it and the reject politicians who claim to be liberals.  If you don't believe me, name the last liberal to successfully run for the President of the United States.  Bill Clinton ran as a moderate and was successful in shaking off any attempt to label him a liberal.  Barack Obama re-labeled himself a "Progressive" in this last election reciting the name as if he were a member of some growing movement.  In reality, Barack Obama is nothing short of the same ole same ole liberal, the same liberal big government ideas, the same liberal tax and spend policies that have failed this country in the past and will fail it again if he is successful.

Liberals are now trying to do the same thing with the term Conservative as we have done with the term liberal.  They want to brainwash the American people reeducating them on the six o'clock news.  Conservatives are bad, they are cooky wierd and strange.  That's why they pummeled Sarah Palin with questions that no one would dare ask Barack Obama.  She hurt herself in the interviews with Charlie Gibson and Katie Couric because she tried being something other that what she was for the sake of John McCain.  When Conservatives do that they come off as something phony and ungenuine.

Conservatism works.  It works everytime and every where it is tried.  Conservatives win elections when they show the American people who they really are.  They don't win when they try to be something that they are not.  John McCain lost because the best thing he could say for himself was that he was a "Maverick".  He did not have a message that resonated with his Conservative base or the American people.  His inability to speak beyond the media spin and directly to the American people is the reason John McCain will not be inaugurated tomorrow as the 44th President.  It had nothing to do with Sarah Palin.

The Last Days of George W. Bush

After eight years in the White House the 43rd President of the United States, George W. Bush is now entering his last full week in office.

Bush leaves office as one of the most reviled men ever to hold the office.  Had President Lincoln lost the Civil War I think he might be a close second to President Bush.  The left hates him for his mistakes, they hate him even more because he is a proud Christian, and they revile him for his successes.

I don't agree with everything George W. Bush has done.  His spending habits left us with large deficit the economy grew but so did the reach of the federal government.  He signed the McCain-Feingold bill and Republicans have not won an election of consequence since. He pushed for and eventually signed a prescription drug plan, creating yet another entitlement program that will never go away.  He was warned by former President Clinton to keep an eye on Osama Bin Laden but his administration refused to move, concentrating instead on an educational bill thats done little to correct the problems in our educational system.  When he struck Iraq, his administration refused to let the boys on the ground do their job and after the success of the ground war, US coalition forces were losing the fight for peace.

Still, there were some successes.  His tax cuts created larger budgets and he pulled us out of the recession left behind by Bill Clinton. Since 9/11 there has been no terrorist strike against the United States and there can be no doubt that the terrorists want to hit us and they want to hit us hard.  The Bush Doctrine of hit them before they hit us has kept the terrorists on the defensive and let there be no doubt that America is winning the war on terror under the leadership of President Bush.

The leftists in Hollywood will never respect George Bush, they will never agree that he was ever their President.  Still, when talking about the affairs of state who really listens to these "mental midgets" anyway?

In closing I would like to say this about the man who is leaving office in little more than a week.  He did not always make the right decision, but he always did what, in his heart, was right for America.  In doing so he knew he would be the most hated man in the nation. As Coach Paul W. Bryant once said, if you stick your head up above the crowd be aware that someone will try to cut it off.  President Bush, despite my disagreements with the man, is a courageous gentleman who put his reputation and legacy on the line to do what he thought was right for America.  Regardless of the outcomes, that takes a courageous spirit, the same courageous spirit that made this nation the greatest on the face of the earth.

Happy Holidays vs Merry Christmas

You can call it what you want.  Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, Merry X-Mas.  It make no difference really, but it is and will always be Merry Christmas.  There will never be a successful effort to remove Jesus Christ as the reason for Christmas time.  We can market the Christmas season with images of Santa Claus all we want to but it still does not change the true meaning of Christmas.  Time and the lack of good history teaching will soften the name of Christ's impact on this time of year but again it will never do away with it entirely.

Every year I read Charles Dicken's A Christmas Carol to my two little girls.  Dicken's talented use of the English language is lost on them right now but the true meaning of the story is not.  Most everyone knows what this book is all about so I will provide a very brief synopisis.

The story features a very old crumudgeon named Ebenezer Scrooge who despises Christmas because he believes mankind is better off continuing the process of enterprise rather than stopping to make merry every 25th of December.  "I do not choose to make merry myself at Christmas," he says "and I can't afford to make idle people merry."

Scrooge on Christmas Eve night is then visited by three spirits.  (In the story, the visits happen over a period of three nights).  The three spirits are the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future.  The three spirits reveal to him the true meaning of Christmas and explain to him why he should share his fortune with others for the sake of mankind and also for his own sake.

Dickens sets his story in the city of London.  This setting is incredibly important because he paints the scene as being very dark and gloomy, cold and crisp with snow on the ground.  I believe this setting represents the coldness of life and the cold darkness of Scrooge's soul.  Despite the gloominess of the day, the people go around singing carols and prancing about in the streets, everyone is swept up in the true nature of Christmas, because the true spirit of Christmas resides in us all.  We can try and extinguish the light of the saviour by putting an "X" through his name or saying Happy Holidays, but those who choose to ignore it are no better off than Ebenezer Scrooge. No matter how hard they might try, the true spirit of Christmas stills lives and breathes within us all.

Merry Christmas and God Bless Us, Everyone.

Open Letter to President-Elect Barack Obama

Dear Mr. President

As a member of the vast right wing conspiracy I stood in opposition to the "Change" you want to bring to the United States.  If the policies you bring to this country are the policies you promised on the campaign trail then you can keep your change.  I don't want it and most Conservative Republicans I know don't want it either.

I will avoid words such as "socialism" or "communism" that were bandied about during the campaign.  I do believe, however, that your policies are dangerous to this country.  I vow to stand against you and fight you when I disagree.  I vow my support when I agree.

It would appear that our first crossroads will be over the proposed bail out of the automobile industry.  GM, Ford and Chevrolet want to get their hands on the billions of dollars in the "emergency" bail out package passed by Congress last month.

I stand in opposition to any bailout but in particular the bailout to the automobile industry.  Let them fail.  These American companies can't compete in the global automobile industry because of labor unions.  Their large labor contracts are too expensive and the companies need to free themselves from the burden.

Failure is nothing more than a chance to learn from your mistakes and start over.

Mr. Obama, the Republicans have hopefully learned their lesson.  In 2012, we will be better for it.  In the next four years we will stand against you and then hopefully defeat you in four years.  The next time, we will nominate a Conservative and we demonstrate how Republicans win elections.  We don't win elections by being moderate we elections by being Conservative.

An Open Letter to John McCain

Dear John McCain:

I hope you win tomorrow but don't misunderstand, I think you are a potential disaster.  I see right through your junk.  For years you have shoved conservatives under the bus while you tried make friends out of the left.  Only when you need conservatives to win an election do you toss us a bone.  Thank you for introducing Sarah Palin to the world.  I guess we owe you a hearty thank you for that one.

If by some miracle you pull off the mammoth upset by winning the election tomorrow.  I won't you to remember why you won.  You didn't win because you moved to the center.  You did exactly the opposite.  The moment you are sworn in, remember the base.  Do not alienate the conservative base of the Republican party.  Don't give in to your desire to show how good a fellow you are and move back to the center.

Mr. Senator I don't want you to reach across the aisle.  I want you to fight the left at every turn.  I want you to destroy the liberal left wing of the democratic party and let's move this country back to the right.  Let's eliminate abortion, lower taxes for all Americans not just a select few, let's balance the budget and let's fix social security by creating private accounts for every American that wants it.

Mr. McCain, I know that you will begin to drift to the center the moment you are elected but don't you forget the people who put you there.

Were Our Founding Fathers Really Christians?

This is an oft debated topic.  Were the founding fathers active and devout Christians as so many among the Christian Right would have you to believe or were they were more pragmatic in their affairs and belief in God as some reconstructive historians would have you believe.
This is an interesting debate so as a historian I will give you my analysis of the question.

Of the 55 men who formed the Constitution 52 of them were active participants in their local churches.  This alone however does not constitute what I would consider a devout Christian.  To properly examine this question you have to look at the role of churches in 18th and 19th century America.  These were gathering places.  A place where neighbors could come together every Sunday for worship and fellowship.  Few large cities existed in the time of the founding fathers, places like New York city and Philadelphia were nothing more than rural centers compared to todays cities and the populations were scattered across the countryside.  For many church worship on Sunday morning was the only time they saw anyone other than their families.  In this light we can draw no real conclusion from the church participation of these men.

Then there is the question of deism.  Deism is a quasi-religious belief that God is aloof and does not interfere in the everyday affairs of man.  Benjamin Franklin once considered himself a deist when he was a young man.  He later repudiated that belief but still put off the Puritan view that one's soul can only be saved by God and not by good deeds alone.

An often quoted founding father by the Christian right, Noah Webster, who wrote the first dictionary said "No truth is more evident to my mind that that the Christian religion must be the basis of any government intended to secure the rights and priviledges of a free people."

This would seem to overturn some of his earlier writings when he said "The very idea of a system of religious principles and a mode of worship, prescribed and established by human authority, is totally repugnant to the spirit of christianity. Every establishment is only a milder term for tyranny....It is an insult to humanity, a solemn mockery of all justice and common sense, to assume that right of entailing our opinion and formalities of devotion upon posterity, or to exclude them from the protection or emoluments of government for a non-conformity dictated by conscience."

I center my discussion here on Noah Webster because he is best known for arguing for the seperation of church and state.  This idea leads to an interesting discussion because it requires us to review what Noah Webster meant when he argued this principle.

First of all the words "seperation of church and state" do not appear anywhere in the Constitution.  The term comes from a letter written by Thomas Jefferson to the Danbury Baptists in which he wrote "I contemplate with sovereign reverance that act of the whole American People which declared that their legislature should 'make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof' thus building a wall of seperation between Church & State"

When any founding father spoke about religion it could be argued that they spoke only about Christianity.  For many of them they wanted to create a world where man could worship God as he saw fit without raising the ire of the state because he refuses to worship in a way the government decrees.  England had its Church of England while Spain and France followed the teachings of the Catholic faith.  To the founding fathers, these churches were like governments all of them imposing their will on the people they were supposed to serve.  They never wanted that in America so they prevented the founding of a single Christian church sanctioned by the Government of the United States.  When the founding fathers created this country they thought they were building a nation where mankind could worship the "Chrisitan" God as they saw fit.

The unfortunate consequence of the First Amendment is the removal of prayer in schools.  Let's go back to the words of Noah Webster for a moment. “In my view, the Christian religion is the most important and one of the first things in which all children, under a free government ought to be instructed.”

Abraham Lincoln wrote: "In regard to this great book, I have but to say, it is the best gift God has given to man. All the good the Saviour gave to the world was communicated through this book. But for it we could not know right from wrong. All things most desirable for man’s welfare, here and hereafter, are to be found portrayed in it."

So is this a Christian nation?  The answer was Yes but one could make a strong argument that a sense of religion and belief of God is slipping from the fibers that bind this nation together.  If we continue to turn away from the morality taught in the bible then an unspeakable calamity will fall upon America and on the world as a whole.  America is the last stronghold of Chrisitianity.  Should it ever collapse then the world will fall into the clutches of the devil.  We will certainly know the meaining of suffering when that happens.

The unfortunate consequence

Doomsday Prediction for 2008 Presidential Election

As if Barack Obama winning the Presidential Election in 2008 would not be doomsday enough I have for all my Casper Cronies the following prediction:

The electoral college requires a total of 270 electoral votes in order to win the election.  If no candidate reaches the 270 votes required then, the House of Representatives must convene to elect the next President of the United States.  Each state gets one vote each and the winner only needs 26 votes to win the election.

Here is what I predict will happen.  Neither Obama or McCain win the election with the required 270 votes.  Obama probably gets more than McCain but still not enough to win the election.  Each state will then get one vote in the House of Representatives.

The number of states goes McCain's way and he wins election...

Will there be revolutions in the streets?  Some say there might be...

McCain Loses Election After Debate Performance

During the debate last night I saw two men who both wanted to hold the highest public office in the land.  In previous years there were definite differences in the two candidates, one was far to the left while the other was far to the right.  Last night, I saw a Marxist and a really, really bad democrat wanna be.  Now I understand why Joe Lieberman likes McCain so much.   Obamais just too far tot he left and McCain, well, he's just about right.

The problem with John McCain is that he just doesn't get it.  My fellow Republicans, we made a tremendous mistake in making this guy our nominee.  What would last night have been like if Obamahad to face down Mitt Romney, Sarah Palin, Mike Huckabee or Guiliani?  Any of those four would have swept the floor with Obama.  They would have pasted him and Obama would now be down for the count.

Instead we have a guy who wants to talk about earmarks.  Well, earmarks are a bad problem but they are a small, small problem in America.  Truth is most Americans don't even know what an earmark is.  Most probably think its that little shadow that appears mysteriously on a piece of paper when you hold it up to the light.  He likes to talk about being a "maverick".  If I have to hear that one more time I'm going to pull my hair out.  McCain's not a maverick.  If he was a Maverick he would offer up a true plan.  How would this suit you?

First, we eliminate capital gains, taxes, corporate taxes, inheritance taxes, and marriage penalties by instituting a new tax code.  One that is simple enough that it eliminates the April 15th tax day by having "every" American pay a percentage of their income each week to the government.  This would also eliminate the class warfare game the Democrats like to play when it comes to taxes.   Money would flow into the treasury at the tune of $13 trillion as some estimates would indicate.  We could retire the deficit within ten years.

Institute a health insurance plan that provides health insurance for those who need it.  This isn't for people who get a cold and think they have to go the emergency room, but for people who have diabetes or cancer and can't buy health care through insurance providers because it costs too much.

We reform social security by first removing the FICA funds from the general budget and two, setting up a personal payment plan for each American to invest a small portion of their money in mutual funds, money markets, IRAs or annuities.  They also have the option to leave it where it is.
You want to make sure social security gets fixed, force all Congressmen onto Social Security when they retire.

Give the "ordinary" American a chance at governing by instituting term limits on House members.  12 years and that's it pal, now it's someone elses turn.

Hey McCain here's a novel idea for ya, try balancing the budget.  Instead of socializing these bad mortgages, lets take a new approach as a government and spend only what we bring in.

Reform education, not by throwing money at the problem but by turning over the power in our schools to the principals and the community PTAs.  Money never made for a good education. Ben Franklin went to a school that didn't even have a floor and he became one of the greatest of all American scientists and philanthropists.

Defense spending should increase not decrease.  No soldier of ours should ever be without the very best that we can give them.  That includes the highest starting pay grade that we can afford.  This country is too rich and too powerful to ask our bravest men and women to do the most for the least.  We should pay them before we ever write the first WIC check or issue the first food stamp.

Increase the value of the dollar by putting it back on the gold standard.  Stop printing so much. You can't continue to print the American dollar and expect the value to stay high, so stop it.

Energy Independence - Drill here Drill NOW!!! Pay Less.  WE should drill every where we can. Nothing should be off limits.  We should also invest billions in alternative energy resources such as nuclear power, solar and wind power, natural gas and clean coal.  We should also invest billions in building the infrastructure to provide these alternative fuel sources.

End the strain on food prices by getting American farms back to growing rice and corn for sustenance rather than for fuel.  The experiment with ethanol is over.  It was a good try but it was a dismal failure.  Now we should get farmers back into the food growing business and out of the fuel making business.

Iraq War - we need to get out as soon as possible by setting a timeline for withdrawal.  If the Iraqi government is not ready to assume control of its own interests at that time then America can not abandon its enemy but the Iraqi government must pay the bill.  American forces will assume control of the Iraqi oil fields and collect all the profits to fund our troops for the time we are there and we give only the remaining balance to the Iraqi government.

Immigration is a big problem but instead of an amnesty bill for all why not offer this as a possible means of gaining American citizenship.  If you want to come to this country you can gain citizenship by doing a four year stint in the Armed Services.  They will receive excellent pay and college tuition benefits and after four years they can come out as full fledged citizens.  If they don't make it through, we give them a free ride back to where ever they came from.

America should make human rights a top priority.  The Cross doctrine would identify a certain criteria for when American forces should intervene and if crimes against humanity occur and they fit that definitive criteria then America should step in, hunt down and crush anyone who would do harm to our brothers.

Gay Marriage - Marriage is a religious institution and it should stay between a man and a woman.  Still gay couple should have the rights and privileges as a husband would or a wife. There should be a legal status that allows them to be at their partner's side when they are sick and have the same benefits as a married couple would have in the event of death.

Abortion should be protected in the even of rape, incest, or the life of the mother is in jeopardy but "just because" abortions must stop.  It should be left up to the state OB/GYN boards to look at every case and judge on merit whether or not that abortion meets that criteria.  If an abortion is done and does not fit the criteria then the doctor should have his/her  license suspended.  In the event of a second offense during the life span of his/her career, the doctor should have his license revoked for a period of one (1) year, after a third offense during the lifespan of his/her career the license of said doctor should be revoked permanently.

And finally if asked if I would ever call on Americans to sacrifice, my response would be very short and to the point.  Americans have sacrificed enough.  It is time now for the government to sacrifice.  It is time for bureaucrats to sacrifice and it is time for politicians to sacrifice. Americans already give more than they should be asked to give while politicians get wealthy, lining their pockets with special interest money and sweet heart deals from companies looking for political favors.  Its time for government to sacrifice its time for the government to start paying its fair share back to people that it is meant to serve.

Bill Maher's "Religulous" is an assault on all Believers:

The brilliant leftist minds on the left coast, unfortunately have this giant sounding board, a medium through which they can shape the hearts and minds of Americans.  It is called the silver screen.  The days when actors did what they were paid to do, act, are now long over.  The Hollywood elite come out in force every four years to ridicule and make fun of Conservatives and promote their Marxist liberal agendas as if they knew what they were talking about but in reality they are just ignorant, imbecilic and just plain dumb.

Such is the case with Bill Maher's new movie "Religulous" a meshing of the words "Religous" and "Ridiculous".  The movie assaults the three main faiths: the Christians, the Jews, and the Muslims.  When asked if he thought himself an atheist Maher responded saying he disliked the term because it gives religion a certainty that is undeserving.  Bill Maher said he just isn't sure.  Yet he accuses America of being "young" and "dumb" when faced with the reality that this is a religious country.  Sounds like an atheist to me.

As a Chrisitan, I believe that Christ died for our sins in order to be the bridge between God and man.  God needed a perfect sacrifice to build that bridge and Jesus was that perfect sacrifice.  You can ridicule me for my beliefs if you want Mr. Maher.  I really don't care.  If you're right and there is no God then I must ask you what have I lost?  I lived my life to help my fellow man, I loved my fellow sinners because he saved the worst among them all when he saved me.  I brought my two little girls up in a faith that protects you from AIDS and from un-wed pregnancies if you follow its teachings.  I have lost nothing.  But if I am right and God someday judges all of mankind and sends to hell those who refused to accept his perfect sacrifice, what have you lost?

Give Money to Buy off All Mortgages

Let's not kid ourselves the bailout's initial cost will be around $500 billion.  The final cost will more than likely be closer to the $2 trillion mark.

So I propose a radical new strategy.  Instead of bailing out Wall Street, why not send the money to the people who will use it wisely?  Why not pay off every American's mortgage?  By the time lawmakers finally finish parsing out the dough, the cost will be less to pay off every American'smortgage than it would to buy off Wall Street.

Think of the benefits.  Americans free from the mortgage begin spending like crazy.  Retail stores pop up every where, new jobs are created and you would save billions in lost revenue tohomeowners who write off the interest on their homes.

If Obama was half the democrat he thinks he is he would propose such a radical strategy.  Bail Out America, give us our fair share.  Isn't that what Obama's all about anyway?  Wealth redistribution?

33 Pastors defy IRS ban on political interference

In a move to prompt the IRS to sue over a 1954 ban that prohibits tax exempt organizations of worship from endorsing or interfering in any political campaign, 33 pastors across the nation orchestrated a movement from their pulpits to challenge the presidential candidacy of Barack Obama.

The role of the church is to lead their congregation down the path of righteousness.  Their sole aim is to teach and guide Christians young and old on how to live their lives not on how they should vote.  For the sake of clarity let me also add that these pastors oppose Barack Obama because of his stance on gay rights and abortion.  So they want to educate their church members on where the candidates stand relative to the teachings of the bible.

The point that I want to make however, is this.  How is this any different than what the Reverend Jeremiah Wright or Father Pfleger do in their churches each and every Sunday? Anti-Republican vitriol is spoken from the pulpit of black churches all across this country, from sea to shining sea.  They incite their members by telling them that George Bush wants them and their babies to starve.  That the Republicans want to turn them into second class citizens again by taking away their rights as American citizens.  They claim, as Whoopi Goldberg does that John McCain wants to return them to slavery because he wants to appoint judges that are strict constitutionalists.  All of this could not be further from the truth but the IRS does nothing to challenge the rights of black (democrat) preachers to spout their political lies and half-truths.

The IRS has yet to decide what action to take.  They will watch the events and decide accordingly.  The point must be made that the freedom of speech belongs to all Americans, not just those who want to vote for Obama.

DEMOCRATS FIDDLED WHILE ROME BURNED

President Bush just handed Congress a $700 billion buyout plan to save our crumbling economy and perhaps millions of jobs.

Yesterday afternoon it seemed the bill was dead on the hill.

Last night just before the President addressed the nation, Democrats stepped forward and said that the two parties had finally come to an agreement on the principles of a bailout bill, despite growing public sentiment against the plan.

What happened?

Simple.  Political posturing.  The President showed leadership on this issue while the Democrats were left waiting for the leader in the White House to show them the way.  The Democrats could not make Bush out to look like the winner on this issue (this issue could very well win them the White House as well as both Houses in Congress).  So they stomped around the hill, calling the bill "unacceptable" and all of a sudden Democrats had a difficult time spending the tax payer's money when they've been so good at it for more than forty years.  They knew all along that the bill would be signed.  They would sign it because the economy will tank if they don't.  The financial crisis on Wall Street will soon creep up onto the porches on Main Street.

Democrats played the political games while President Bush (finally) showed leadership.  He could take the Congress to task for their failures to have oversight of Fannie and Freddie Mac but he accepted the responsibility of the crisis and explained his plan to fix it to the American people.  The blame game can be played out on the playing fields of the election but if this crisis is adverted, President Bush will escape the moniker of the 21st Century's version of Herbert Hoover.

Answer to Our Troubled Economy:"Fair Tax"

In today's political environment "fairness" is a term bandied about by liberals who see the world through the eyes of a five year old child.  "That's not fair."  or "You're being mean to me, that's just not fair."

So in the context of fairness I present to you the "fair tax" plan.

The current tax code is difficult to understand and is holding back our economy.  Should Congress pass and the President sign a fair tax plan the old days of complicated tax filing would finally be behind us all.

A "fair tax" treats all federal tax payers equally.  Eliminating the unfair tax code that soaks the top fifty per cent while the bottom fifty per cent are a load and a burden to the rest.

A fair tax would create a tax rate of less than 20%.  This plan would eliminate loop holes such as deductions the wealthy and the rest of us use to hide money from the federal government, but it would also eliminate penalties on investments.  The days of double taxation would be over.  The capital gains tax, the "death tax" would be gone.

If Congress signed a federal tax reform act tomorrow the economy would see an immediate growth of $5 trillion.  This is a modest estimate as some predict a $13 trillion growth.  I believe the number to be around$7 trillion, right in the middle.  With this extra cash we could lower the federal deficit, fix social security, and bail out medicare and medicaid (both are as broke as our financial institutions).

This is the only true, fair tax plan.  The fair tax is a good plan for all us.  It is good for business, it is good for families in every economic strata.  It just makes good sense and better yet, all but eliminate the IRS.  Its a win for all of America.

America Stands on the Brink of Collapse

As a Conservative Republican you might think I would be against such a large federal buyout of debts owned by free market companies.  You might think that, but you couldn't be more wrong. Ideology has its place and it is an important one but every right thinking person on this planet must at some point recognize the limits of their ideology.  Mine reached its limit when the Bush administration decided it would provide a huge check to the troubled financial industry.

The $105 billion injection of liquid funds into the stock market was a good idea because (at least for now) it prevented an economic meltdown the size of the 1929 stock market crash that sent the world spiraling into a ten year great depression.  We thought it couldn't happen to us again. Well guess what it almost did.  The market, some experts analyzed was a mere 500 trades away from a 22 % drop.

The move by the feds prevented a catastrophe on Wall Street and on Main Street.  Why?  The constriction of commercial paper.  These are the loans given to small businesses and large businesses just to keep the doors open.  Without those loans businesses both large and small would have shut their doors and millions (potentially) would have lost their jobs.

America stands on the brink of a total collapse.  We are teetering on the edge and the slightest blow is all it might take to knock us into the abyss.  That blow might very well come from AlQaeda.  The terrorist group is notorious for its attempts to influence elections and many in our intelligence community fear that Al Qaeda will have an October surprise.  America has evaded a terrorist strike on our own soil since Sept 11, 2001 but the Bush administration claims several plots were thwarted before they were carried out.  America is still in danger from another attack.  Only this time they won't have to knock down our buildings to bring us to our knees.

Vermonter running for Atty General makes campaign promise to prosecute Bush for War Crimes

In another example of Liberal left-wing fanaticism I give to you Charlotte Dennett.  Dennett, a Progressive party candidate running for Attorney General in Vermont, promises to prosecute George W. Bush for murder if she is elected to the position.  She claims to have jurisdiction in Iraq and she wants to bring Bush to justice for the murders he committed during the war.  Essentially she wants him charged on war crimes.

Maybe it's just me but these crazy people on the left have just about gone off the deep end with their vitriol toward this man.  You can disagree with his policies but this crosses the line of politics to pure unfiltered hatred.  I didn't agree with over 99% of the Clinton Administration policies but I never hated him.

Democrats in their criticism of the Republican Party often cite hate mongering among the Conservative right-wingers.  The hate-mongering they speak of is nothing more than a spirited debate over policies with which we differ greatly.  Liberals feel that if you attack their bad ideas that you must be silenced so they call us names.  They fling personal attacks and threats at Conservatives calling us racists, bigots, and homophobes.  Based on this crazy woman's ideas I have a few insults to fling of my own.  How about imbecilic, ignorant, stupid, and most of all dangerous and deadly to the American way of life.
